On the weekend I had the pleasure of doing photos for a 71st birthday party. In fact it was a combined 21st and 50th party. It was a great party and everyone had an awesome time, myself included.
It was actually the first time I'd even done any flash photography. Until now I had only ever done available light work.
It is about time I started getting into some lighting work so I got myself an SB800 speedlight, a diffuser and an umbrella reflector. I didn't get much time to try out the new equipment beforehand, just a few shots the night before and about 15 minutes reading the manual before the party.
Although I've been quietly studying photographs of flash photography in the last few months, it's fair to say that I was throwing myself in at the deep end.
I'm quite happy with how the results turned out and I'm very excited about doing more flash work.
